问题:How do advertisements influence children? Well I think advertisements mainly exert negative influence on children. As we all know, advertisements are instruments carefully designed to trigger human desire into buying things, and their persuasive nature is not something that kids are able to withstand. If children watch an advertisement for, let’s say, junk food, like McDonald’s, they would be totally attracted by the appetizing appearance of the hamburgers and the French fries in the advertisements, and then they would naturally want to eat those junk foods, which would be very bad for their health. Another negative effect that advertisements might have on children is that sometimes the product being advertised are for adults only. Like for example, the advertisement for Durex that I watched the other day is totally not meant for children to see. So in conclusion, I think parents need to strictly monitor what kinds of advertisements that children get to see. Appetizing appearance 诱人的外表(appetizing指促进食欲的,让人想吃东西的) Not meant for sb. to see 不应该给某人看的 Strictly monitor 严格监控 Get to do sth. 被允许做某件事(代替be allowed to do sth.)
