介绍:
Two more signals heard in search for missing flight An Australian vessel has picked up two more signals from what could be the black box from the missing Malaysia Airlines jetliner. Chief Coordinator for the search Angus Houston says he now believes the search is closing in on the area of the missing plane's "final resting place". "Ocean Shield has now detected four transmissions in the same broad area. Yesterday's signals will assist in better defining a reduced and much more manageable search area on the ocean floor. I believe we are searching in the right area but we need to visually identify aircraft wreckage before we can confirm with certainty that this is the final resting place of MH370." Houston says the Ocean Shield would be looking to pick up more transmissions to help further narrow down the search area. Once that happens, he says searchers could find something in a "matter of days". The reduced search area has also led to a boost in visual search operations on the ocean surface. Up to 11 military aircraft, four civil aircraft and up to 14 ships are involved in the search. Over 20 killed as blast hits fruit market in Islamabad A deadly blast has struck a market on the outskirts of Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, killing more than 20 people. Some 70 others were injured as the high intensity blast struck near a busy fruit and vegetable market early today. Police say the explosive materials were fixed inside fruit boxes and they are investigating the truck which dropped them in the market. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast yet. Car bombings kill at least 13 in Iraq A new wave of car bombings in Iraq has claimed the lives of at least 13 people and wounded several others. Police say one of the bombs went off in Sadr City, in eastern Baghdad, killing at least two people and wounding six others. The blasts, in mainly Shiite areas, coincided with the 11th anniversary of the fall of Baghdad to the US-led coalition. The country is holding parliamentary elections on April 30, the first voting since the withdrawal of US troops in late 2011. Venezuela president and opposition agree formal talks The Venezuelan government and a coalition of opposition parties have agreed to hold formal talks to end weeks of anti-government protests. Venezuelan Vice-President Jorge Arreaza says the two sides agreed to hold talks in public. The opposition had demanded that any negotiations be broadcast live on television and radio. The talks have been tentatively scheduled for Thursday. At least 39 people, both opponents and supporters of the government, have died in protest-related violence. IMF trims world growth forecast to 3.6 percent for 2014 The International Monetary Fund has lowered its global economic growth forecast to 3.6 percent for 2014, down from 3.7 percent it predicted in January. In its latest economic outlook, the IMF warns that downside risks continue to dominate the global growth outlook despite some pickup in advanced economies. Growth in emerging markets was projected to increase 4.9 percent in 2014, slightly revised down from its last forecast. The IMF kept its forecast for China unchanged at 7.5 percent for 2014 and 7.3 percent for 2015. China can achieve 7.5-pct growth target: economist Former chief economist of the World Bank Justin Yifu Lin has reiterated his confidence in China's economy, saying the country will be able to meet its 7.5-percent growth target despite short-term worries. Speaking at the annual Boao Forum for Asia, Lin said there is still huge potential in China's industrial transformation and infrastructure construction to yield high returns. He said China's low debt rate of around 40 percent allows room for proactive fiscal policies, and massive private savings and foreign reserves are all favorable conditions to deliver growth. Discipline organ to inspect 20 provincial-level regions The anti-graft organ of the Communist Party of China will inspect 20 provincial-level regions this year in a new round of work. The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection says 13 teams have started their work in regions and departments. The inspection aims to uncover corruption and inappropriate working practices. More than 80 officials were investigated in disciplinary inspections last year. Doctor murdered in E China A doctor has been stabbed to death by a patient in a hospital in east China's Jiangsu province. Officials in Fengxian County say the suspect, who has been detained by police, was dissatisfied with the treatment outcome and the medical expenses. It's the latest violence against medical staff in China. Last October, a patient stabbed to death a doctor and severely injured two others in Zhejiang. The crime and several other incidents had prompted China's top security body to urge a severe crackdown on crimes targeting medical staff.
