Divers enter sunken S.Korean ferry, 28 confirmed dead Divers have successfully entered the hull of a sunken South Korean ferry to search for hundreds still missing two days after it capsized. Qomolangma avalanche At least 12 Nepali Shepa climbers have been killed by an avalanche on the slopes of Mount Qomalangma, or the Everest. A spokesman for Nepal's tourism ministry says more people are still missing. The government has sent three helicopters for the rescue operation. Several injured climbers have been brought to the base camp. The Sherpa climbers were making preparation for the climbing season starting next month when the avalanche struck. It is thought to be the deadliest climbing tragedy on the mountain. SW China colliery cave-in kills 7 Seven miners have been killed and another injured in a cave-in at a coalmine in southwest China's Guizhou Province. The accident occurred when 13 miners were working underground at the mine in Liupanshui City. Six of them managed to escape. An investigation into the cause of the accident is under way. Pro-Russians in East Ukraine snub Geneva deal Pro-Russian protesters in Ukraine's eastern region Donetsk say they will not leave the government building there, threatening a new international deal on Ukraine. Russia, Ukraine, the EU and US earlier agreed in Geneva that illegal military groups in Ukraine must leave official buildings. The protesters in Donetsk say the government in Kiev is illegal, so they would not go until the Kiev government steps down. US President Barack Obama has cautiously welcomed the Geneva deal, but warned that the US and its allies are ready to impose new sanctions on Russia if the situation fails to improve. A tense standoff continues in eastern Ukraine, where pro-Russians are occupying official buildings in at least nine cities and towns. Underwater drone scans ocean floor for 5th time A mini-submarine has dipped into the ocean for its fifth trip to search for traces of the missing Malaysian plane. Nigeria: 99 girls missing - Borno official A local Nigerian education official says 99 school girls remain missing after they were abducted by suspected Boko Haram militants early this week. The Borno State Education Commissioner says a total of 30 students have so far been located. Earlier, military authorities claimed that troops had freed all but 8 of the 129 students abducted. But the military later retracted that statement, saying they had been misinformed. Tributes for the passing of Garcia Marquez Tributes are pouring in from all over the world following the death of Nobel prize-winning Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez. U.S. President Barack Obama, Peruvian author Mario Vargas Llosa, and Colombian pop star Shakira are among those who paid their tributes. Garcia Marquez died at his home in Mexico City on Thursday aged 87. He had returned home from hospital last week after a bout of pneumonia.  Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos. Garcia Marquez has been considered one of the greatest Spanish-language authors. His masterpiece of magic realism, One Hundred Years of Solitude, has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide. It helped him win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982.
