Five Killed as IS Affiliates Launch Attack on Libya Hotel
Five foreigners have reportedly been killed and several others inured following an attack on a hotel in the Libyan capital, Tripoli.
At least two militants, said to be associated with the Islamic State, launched the attack on the Corinthia Hotel, which is one of the most popular hotels for foreigners in Tripoli.
An explosion which shook the entire region took place just before the attack on the hotel began.
Nearby office buildings have been evacuated.
An offshoot of the Islamic State is claiming responsibility for the attack.
Military Parade to be Held to Mark 70th Anniversary of Victory against Fascism
A military parade is being planned in Beijing to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory over Fascism.
Foreign leaders are being invited to attend the parade for the first time.
The details of the parade have not been made available.
It will be the first time since the founding of the PRC that a military parade will be held on a date other than October 1st, which is China's National Day
Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland marks liberation
Commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp have been taking place on Tuesday.
More than a hundred former prisoners, joined by Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski, placed wreaths along the Execution Wall in the former Nazi prison camp.
Ceremonies are also expected to take place at the site in the camp the Nazis carried out the mass extermination of Jews in the gas chambers.
More than 300 former prisoners as well as the representatives of 49 countries, including presidents, prime ministers and other heads of state are taking part in the Tuesday ceremony.
China Sets 2015 Industrial Output Growth Target at 8 Pct
Chinese regulators have set an 8-percent industrial output growth target this year.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology says while the target is lower than last year, authorities contend it is not a low target, noting China's economy has entered a period of slower growth.
The ministry also says the 8-percent target also takes into account a lower expected rate of GDP growth this year.
Industrial output in China grew 8.3-percent last year, down from the 9.7 percent growth seen in 2013.
Long March-7 carrier rocket arrived at the launch site
A Long March-7 carrier rocket has arrived at the launch site in the city of Wenchang of south China's Hainan province.
Scientists will run a series of tests on the rocket in preparation for its maiden flight, scheduled for 2016.
The liquid-fuelled carrier rocket is designed to launch China's first cargo spacecraft, which is currently under development.
The unmanned cargo spacecraft will carry supplies to and refuel China's future manned space station.
Lizard Hacker group claims responsibility for Facebook, Instagram Outage.
A hacker group identifying as the Lizard Squad, which hacked Malaysia Airlines' website Monday morning, claimed responsibility for taking down popular social media sites Facebook and Instagram earlier today.
The outage occured shortly after 12:10 a.m. ET.
The attack affected a large portion of the United States. Users across Asia, Australia and New Zealand also reported having trouble logging on.
The Lizard Hacker Squad has also claimed responsibility for a cyber attack that took down Malaysia Airlines' website Monday morning.
Putin sets government main task of ensuring social stability

7 soldiers killed in Afghan attacks within day
The Afghan defense ministry says seven army soldiers have been killed in separate attacks since early Monday.
The ministry says the military also waged offensives and killed 15 militants in Paktika, Helmand, Kandahar, Herat and Nimroz provinces.
Afghan security forces have been working to fight militants since assuming security roles from NATO-led troops after a four-year security transition process that ended on Dec. 31 last year.
Shanxi halts colliery approval to tackle overcapacity
Provincial authorities in Shanxi have announced they won't be approving the creation of any new coal mines for the next five years.
The move is meant to try to tackle excess capacity in the coal-rich northern Chinese province.
Shanxi is China's major coal producer.
However, weak demand and constantly increasing supplies has led to shut downs and layoffs in the sector.
CNR and CSR Kick off Global Roadshow
Chinese trainmakers CNR and CSR are kicking off a global roadshow this week to pitch investors ahead of their planned merger.
Senior officials from both companies are going to meet foreign investors in four international financial hubs including Hong Kong, Singapore, London and New York.
The merger is expected to be complete sometime before the end of March.
CNR and CSR have both announced contracts worth over 7-billion US dollars in recent days.
The merger is designed to make the combined company more competitive abroad, as the two Chinese firms would often bid against one-another for tenders.
