Today I'm gonna share with you something that I picked up(偶然学到) a few days ago. Did you know that laughing can help us lose weight? According to a research, laughing for a quarter of an hour can burn up to 40 calories. So if you want to lose weigh without doing exercises or starving yourself, laughing may be a good choice. However, you'd better not laugh too hard, or you gonna end up with a painful jaw. What is worse, according to a paper published by the British Medical Journal, sometimes laughter can even be harmful.
A professor found that bad things could happen to people who laughed too much. He says: "We found people with heart rhythm disturbance(心律紊乱) which had stopped their heart, we found people who had fainted(晕倒), we found people whose gullets(食道) had burst, and we found people who'd dislocated their jaws(下巴脱臼) or burst their lungs."
It is not a joke. We have many real examples like the Greek painter Zeuxis, and Thomas Urquhart, the Scottish writer and translator. They laughed too hard and then kicked the bucket(一命呜呼).
I don't want to finish this show leaving you feeling desperate. Laughter comes naturally for most of us. So don't bother, and keep smiling. Life is short anyway.
