Jackson was born in 1961 in Wellington，When he was 16 years old, Jackson left school and began working full-time as a photo-engraver(照片制版) for the local newspaper. Jackson has been known to spend days shooting a single scene. This is evident in his work where even scenes featuring simple conversations often feature a wide array of multiple camera angles.
