Wasting no time, Joe climbed down on the other side of the mountain until he reached a seashore, where he saw an anchored ship rising and falling as the waves rolled past. It was Captain Button’s pirate ship in standby mode, waiting for the captain to come back.
It seemed that no other people had ever come to this part of the sea over the past few years. The ship’s condition was still good. Its frames and heavy rope cables were manufactured from raw materials that were weather tolerant. The ship should be able to function fairly well to battle against a rough sea.
As Joe boarded the pirate ship, he sneezed after inhaling a distasteful smell. Given the fact that the ship had been ditched for years, most of the food left in a stock room could rot and be perished to an extent that made it not suitable for its intended use. The only available food consisted solely of dried foods, such as peanuts, dried fruits and so forth, with limited amount.
Next to the stock room and a kitchen, a third room had enough space for tables, chairs and beds that could fit an entire crew. The big room was divided by grey curtains into different parts or corners. That was where the pirates had spent most of their time drinking, playing and resting.
Although the design of the living space hadn’t taken into account the crew’s needs of privacy, it had served its own purpose; Pirates tended to steal items, especially valuables, even from those who were close to them. Under the ship’s desk, there was a storage chamber with a double –layered iron door, which used to be full of gold, silver and jewels. The common living space had made it unnecessary to require admittance or approval before entering one another’s rooms.
This had greatly reduced the possibility of stealing from the chamber since there had been no secret place on the ship to hide things.
