26-Chapter 12:Eyes wide open 第十二章:眼睛大开;中 文章:(中文意思请听节目) The afternoon sky shined a bright baby blue. Taking that as a good sign, Joe started the next phase of his adventure, which would involve sailing and navigating the sea. Joe was fully aware that it might led to peril of death. Ever since the story about a message in a drifting bottle had been reported, the mystery had led to adventures by others to search for the locality of the turtle island. There hadn’t been a proven link between the turtle island and gold since no one had seen any gold yet. Even though most of the gold hunters had disappeared into the sea, there had existed some charts, drawing graphs, and individual descriptions out there in the streets about the possible sea routes around the turtle island. Out of curiosity, Joe had collected some of those maps. Joe reached his hand into his pocket and pulled out a sea map, which was the one affirmed by Coco when they had talked in that corner room. Although Joe was a fledgling sailor, the weather was, in general, mild and bright. Particularly with favourable winds and currents, Joe was able to sail along at a fair rate of speed. As he sailed away from the shore, the mountain range in the distance created a horizontal skyline with jagged edges. It slowly disappeared from Joe’s view. After days and nights in a calm sea, Joe began to feel lonely and wondered how his journey would end. As the ship was passing through a narrow foggy strait, the sea suddenly became agitated and strong winds seemed to blow in all directions. Cold water soaked Joe’s clothes as the waves rose so high and clashed into each other. 26-雅思词汇:1301--1330(中文意思请见节目) 46 disapprove; 47 reduce; 48 phase; 49 involve; 50 peril; 51 locality; 52 link; 53 chart; 54 graph; 55 graphic; 56 graphology; 57 individual; 58 curiosity; 59 fledgling; 60 general; 61 generalise; 62 mild; 63 favourable; 64 in favour of; 65 favorite; 66 rate; 67 horizntal; 68 vertical; 69 jagged; 70 calm; 71 agitate; 72 blow; 73 soak; 74 clash;
