My Reviews on Akeelah and the Bee
11-year-old Akeelah Anderson was a school girl who lived in⌒a slum. Her father was dead; her mother ignored her because she had a million things to worry⌒about. Akeelah had⌒a passion for spelling, but she skipped a lot⌒of classes in school. Her principal, Mr. Welch, talked her into participating in the school’s spelling bee. Much to her surprise and embarrassment, she won. Mr. Welch asked her to seek coaching from an English professor named Dr. Larabee for the more prestigious [pre'stidʒəs] regional bee. At first, Dr. Larabee turned Akeelah down because of her bad attitude toward study. However, Akeelah realized her problem and apologized for her insolence. Dr. Larabee coached her by using his⌒own methods. With the help⌒of her families, friends, neighbors and teachers, Akeelah made⌒it all the way to Washington DC and finally shared the championship with her opponent. Against all⌒odds, Akeelah made⌒it. Her story tells⌒us that with⌒a right attitude toward your life, anything is possible, anything at⌒all!
