介绍:
Carol is a 2015 British-American romantic drama film directed by Todd Haynes, from a screenplay by Phyllis Nagy based on the novel The Price of Salt (also known as Carol) by Patricia Highsmith. The film stars Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Sarah Paulson, and Kyle Chandler. Set in 1952 in New York City, the film tells the story of a young aspiring photographer and her relationship with an older woman going through a difficult divorce. In development for over 11 years by British producers of Number 9 Films and Film4 Productions, Carol is co-produced by New York-based Killer Films. Principal photography began in March 2014, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and lasted 34 days. The film was shot on Super 16 mm. Carol was selected to compete for the Palme d&`&Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, where Mara tied for the Best Actress award. The film has received critical acclaim. It opened in limited release on November 20, 2015 in the United States, and was released in the United Kingdom on November 27, 2015. In December 2013, it was announced that Carol would be filmed in Cincinnati, Ohio, and production offices would open in early January 2014, with filming expected from mid-March through May. Principal photography began on March 12, 2014, at Eden Park in Cincinnati. Various locations around Cincinnati, Ohio were used during filming, including Downtown Cincinnati, Hyde Park, Over-the-Rhine, Wyoming, Cheviot, and Hamilton, as well as Alexandria, Kentucky. The film was shot in 34 days. Filming was completed on April 25, 2014. Set in a mood-indigo version of the early 1950s, Todd Haynes’s sublime weepie seems an all too obvious cousin of Far From Heaven at first. Yet Haynes has never before portrayed passion with such elegant directness. He turns a 1952 Patricia Highsmith novel into an entrancing romantic voyage tinged with heartbreak. As Carol, who seems a femme fatale until we learn that she’s a devoted mother about to lose everything, Cate Blanchett gives a powerful performance: haughty, tender, raging and full of woe.
