一、catch up 赶上来
——Hey! Slow down! You are running too fast for me.
慢一点！对我来说，你跑得太快了。
——You gotta catch up. You’ll never improve your running
pace if you just jog slowly.
你得赶上来。你的跑步速度永远不会提升如果你只是慢跑。
Slow down 慢一点—— step on it 快点 开车时候踩上去，踩油门
Speed up 快一点 平时所说的，比如开车，跑步时都可以
Hurry up 匆匆忙忙地，催促人快点。
Speed up 强调加速度。
For : 对某人来说。
Jog: 慢跑，与run 的用法相同。
Where are you
going?
I am gonna jog. I am go to jog. ( I like jogging. )
二、reduction 缩读 在英语中发音规律和汉语不同，一个句子中有的词可以重读，有的单词，比如两个三个，一些小介词，可以放在一起读。可以称之为缩读。以下三个，用于口语。
Gotta: got to /have got to 我得…… 我必须……
I am got to clean
my room. / I gotta clean my room.
Wanna: want to 我想…… to 在句中一般缩读为t 的发音
Gonna: going to 我将……
I am going to
visit my grandpa tonight.
= I am gonna visit
my grandpa tonight.
Gonna s.b’s gonna = s.b is going to do
Gotta s.b’s gotta = s.b has got to do
以上三个用于口语，不用于书面语。
三、catch up on work 补上
1. I can’t go out tonight, sorry. I gotta catch up on
work.
Go ouT 出去玩，有约会的意思
go out with s.b 跟某人一起出去。
你最近相亲怎么样了？
We are going out. 我们在约会了。
I can’t eat out. 我不能出去吃饭了。
Stady in 呆在家里，呆在办公室里不出去
I have to stay in

2. I missed while
I was on vacation.
Miss 用得精当。功课、作业、工作落下都可以用miss
四、catch up with someone/s.b 了解近况，叙旧
1. We haven’t seen
each other in ages! We have to catch up.
（We gotta catch up.）
In ages / in years 这几年，很多年
2. We gotta get
coffee this week. I wanna catch up with you!
I gotta hear all about your new job and
your new boyfriend.
