介绍:
A: Welcome back to our channel. This is your old friend Carrot. B: And this is Wendy. How's your time of the first week back to school? Before we start, I want to introduce you a variety show called Super Vocal. A: This show aims to publicize bel canto, and is so popular among all ages these few months. B: You are right. Singers all performed well, but my favourite one is a musical actor. So today I want to talk about Musical with you. A: Alright, so what is a musical? B: Musicals have gone by many different names, like Comic operas, Operettas, Burlesque. Music, songs, dance and spoken dialogue are combined together within a drama. The actor language and the story itself, music and movement as well as the fixed deduction , all of which should be conveyed to the audience. A: That sounds interesting. Its music is easy to understand, that is why it is very popular with the masses.Humor, satire, sentiment, love, anger are as part of moving. The best musicals have three qualities---brain(intelligence and style), heart(genuineness and lively emotion) and courage( the guts to do things creatively and excitingly). B: We are more familiar with opera. Carrot, do you know any difference between musical and opera? A: Well,Opera is an art form in which singers and musicians perform a dramatic work which combines a text and a musical score. While musical is a form of theatre combining music, spoken dialogue and dance. B: Opera is an important part of the Western classical art. The performance is typically given in an opera house, accompanied by an orchestra or smaller musical ensemble. While mordern musical started furnishing in the 20th century. A: They may be presented in large venues, such as big budget West End and Broadway theatre productions in London and New York City, or in smaller Fringe Theatre, Off-Broadway or regional productions, on tour, or by amateur groups in schools, theatres and any other spaces. B: Sometimes people think musical was descended from opera, however, the fact is nothing like that.Opera has been with us since the late 1500s,but contemporary musical theatre and film are not direct descendants of grand operas. A: Opera can be called a descendant of classical theatre. When Renaissance composers tried to resurrect the forms of Greek drama, they added music. This eventually led to the birth of the grand opera. B: From its birth in the 1800s,musical has often spoofed opera, but it traces its roots to other sources.Vaudeville, burlesque and many other forms are the true ancestors of the modern musical---not opera. A: Of course, the melodies of grand opera were part of the popular musical culture of the 1800s and early 1900s,and therefore had some effect on the musical theatre melodies in that time. B: However, the so-called “comic operas” that dominated Broadway in the late 1880s and 90s,including the works of Gilbert & Sullivan, are not operas.Producers called these shows “comic operas” to make them sound more sophisticated, but with extended dialogues and melodies designed for the popular taste of that era, they were clearly musicals. A: The musical has the wider use of stagecraft high-tech, combined with the constant pursuit of visual and auditory effect. At the same time, the Western musical in more than a century of commercial performance experience summarized a set of successful operation of the market means, and created a series of ages of excellent programs, that's why this art form is able to break through limits such as age, class limitation, and widely favored by the audience. B: Musicals are performed around the world, but most frequently and notoriously are in Broadway New York and West End, London. Well, we have talked a lot about musical. Would you like to recommend any great work to us? A: Sure! I must recommend the one that I like the most-- Les Miserables, which is adapted from the classical novel written by Hugo. And also Oklahoma, West side story, Cats and the Phantom of the Opera. B: Sounds great! I will have a look in my free time. That's all of today's show, see you next time. A: This is CQMU English broadcasting station, see you next time. 声音:李昂 温述安 文稿:李昂 温述安 导播: 陈彪
