Recently the fire happens to Cathedral of Notre Dame has aroused worldwide pity and sadness. Today we are going to talk about those fire disasters happen to historic sites and what people can do to rebuild the sites and prevent the fire from happening. (1)China A great fire disaster once happened to Yongning Temple in North Wei Dynasty, the temple was for Royal family and was magnificent beyond description. It stood for one hundred and forty seven metres and could be seen from hundred miles away at that time. However, less than twenty years after its construction, it was destroyed by a fire disaster. It was later assumed that the fire was caused by thunder and lightning .The fire was too severe to control. According to the record, the temple kept burning for three months. People were terrified and extremely sad. Three monks even rushed into the burning temple and died there. In North Wei dynasty most people believed in Buddhism, so the disaster shocked them deeply. (2)Brazil Last year, the great fire happened in national museum of Brazil urged more and more people to think about security of museums. On the evening of 2018.9.2, 20 million cultural relics are threatened because of the conflagration, including items brought from Egypt and human skeleton which has the longest history in the world. The president of Brazil later announced that:" effort, investigation and knowledge accumulatd during two hundred years were lost in one day. This is definitely a depressing day for all the Brazilians." The vice curator of the museum noted that the museum has suffered from lacking found for a long time and never got enough support. (3)France This time, similar destiny falls on Cathedral of Notre Dame, it is reported that the fire had something to do with the incident during the recent repair. The famous spiring of the Cathedral collapsed in the fire along with some of the wood frame and one of the gothic rose windows. The fire fighting department could not employ the airplane to sprinkle water from the air to control the fire because of the fear of destroying the main building. The president later announced the people will rebuild the cathdral together. Many people thought this was the loss of the whole world. How to solve the problem? (1)Preventing before happening Wooden frame construction used to be main constructions worldwide many years ago, and how to prevent them from catching fire has become a great concern for museums everywhere. Firstly, carbon dioxide or dry chemical fire extinguishers are of huge significance in museums. Because many cultural relics were made of paper and wood. It is impossible to use water to control the fire which happens to them. Secondly, smoking and other behaviors which can cause fire should be strictly forbidden in museums. Thirdly, items like lightening conductor should be widely employed in constractions. For example, in ancient China, "golden owls" will be put on the roof of buildings. These are ancient lightning conductors. They have iron wire pointing to the sky, which can lead the electricity to the ground. (2)Putting out after happening Nowadays, more and more historical sites are applying high technology to firefighting. Firstly, automation technology is both safe and convenient to control fire. For example, Chengdu Museum is using all-round infrared ray camera to monitor the temperature of the environment. Once the fire happens, water cannons which are set on the walls will immediately spray water to the burning points. Secondly, walls of museums can be built as natural firefighting tools. Several years ago, some scientists invented a new type of war which has inter layer filled with carbon dioxide. Once the wall is burning down, the carbon dioxide will be released to help to control the fire. All the cultural relics are treasure of the whole world. Wish all the museums can be free from fire.
