The Dutch have a great sense of humor; They love the bizarre, the quirky, the surreal. But visitors to Amsterdam remember above all the canals: hundreds of kilometres of them, wide and narrow, mostly lined with beautiful historic buildings. Many of amsterdam's cafes are by the side of the canals.
