介绍:
Rome is known as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Its unforgettable architecture and an atmosphere can’t be found anywhere else. But lately, it has become a real dump. German artist Ha Schult built a temporary hotel in the city to highlight the sad state of Europe’s beaches. The hotel is built of garbage collected from the shoreline. The five-room hotel contains about 12 tons of garbage, including fishing nets, plastic bags, skateboards, clothing, old tires, etc. The guest rooms are very simple and basic. The toilets are eco-friendly chemical commodes. There are no showers in this hotel, so guests have to forget about washing off the day’s grime. Ha Schult, the designer, has cooperated with beer-maker Corona to create the hotel. Corona started to build the “Save the Beach” garbage hotel in order to raise awareness about the huge amount of waste which is washed up onto the shores every day. This strange hotel has opened to the public, and has already received the support of various stars, like Helena Christensen, the famous model, who agreed to spend a night in the Save the Beach Garbage Hotel. Ha Schult said, “The meaning of this hotel is to show the damage we are causing to the sea and the coastline. We live in the era of trash and we are running the risk of becoming trash ourselves. Do we really want a world like this?”
