A cultural exploration TV show National Treasure has become a hit in China.
The show exhibits 27 of the most precious treasures from nine museums around the country across 27 episodes.
Yu Lei, chief director of the show, says the program is to make national treasures come alive. As a cultural variety show, National Treasure is to show the stories of these priceless pieces, and bring to life ancient Chinese civilization and the national treasures it produced.
It presents the treasures through different artistic methods, and fully interprets the stories and history behind each treasure, so that audiences can not only understand how to appreciate the beauty of it, but also know of the civilization and the spirit it carries over the years.
Famous actors play roles of national treasure guardians for each. They tell about the treasures’ legendary journeys with other actors, and share their stories with these treasures. For example, actor Wang Kai performs as Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty in the show, and presents the historical background of a large vase, which has the most complicated craftsmanship in the history of Chinese imperial porcelain.
The show has touched millions of people’s hearts and encourages more people to visit museums and appreciate our great national treasures.
