介绍:
U.S. stocks ended generally lower on Wednesday as investors paused after the largest four-consecutive session rally in more than a year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gave up opening gains and closed down 0.2 percent. The S&P 500 closed less than a point lower after trading sideways for the most of the session. The Nasdaq defied the general trend and finished the day 0.2 percent higher. After Tuesday's rally, the tech-heavy index turned positive for 2014 and is now up 0.6 percent so far this year. In Canada, the S&P/TSX was up 0.1 percent. European stock markets rose for a sixth-straight day on Wednesday, boosted by solid Chinese export data and well-received corporate results. Among notable movers in Europe, shares of Société Générale gained 4.7 percent after the French bank swung a profit in the fourth quarter. Shares of Heineken rose 0.4 percent after the Dutch brewer said it expects improved performance in 2014 as the global economy recovers. On the numbers front, data showed euro-zone industrial production dropped 0.7% in December, slipping more than forecasted. Shaking off the negative data, Germany's DAX 30 gained 0.7 percent and France's CAC 40 climbed 0.5 percent. U.K. stocks underperformed most of the major European indexes after the Bank of England updated its forward guidance. The U.K.'s FTSE 100 closed slightly higher.
