Li was speaking at his annual press conference following the conclusion of this year’s legislative session of the National People’s Congress. "We have full confidence in the long-term prosperity of China’s economy and such confidence is not without foundation, since we believe that China’s economy will not suffer a hard landing as long as we stick to the policy of reform and opening-up, and since the Chinese market still has great potentials." The premier acknowledged that China’s economy faces downward pressure, but he noted that the ongoing supply-side structural reforms, including streamlining administration, delegating powers of the government, and cutting corporate taxes will unleash more market vitality. A number of key documents have been approved at this year’s NPC session, including the 13th five-year plan for national development. The plan has set targeted average annual economic growth at above 6.5 percent over the next five years. Chinese authorities are expressing serious concern after a Chinese trawler was sunk by Argentina’s coast guard. The trawler was fishing in waters near Argentina and was shot at by the country’s coast guard after being chased for several hours. No fatalities have been reported. Four sailors were rescued by Argentina’s coast guard and the remaining 28 were saved by Chinese trawlers nearby. The Chinese embassy in Argentina has urgently lodged representations with Argentina, demanding a thorough investigation. It also urges Argentina to take effective measures to prevent such incidents from happening again. The mayor of Ningbo city in eastern China has been placed under investigation over suspected corruption. Lu Ziyue also serves as the city’s deputy Party secretary. Meanwhile, the country’s top anti-graft agency says a senior legislator in the northeastern province of Liaoning is being investigated on suspicion of "severe violation of discipline." Wang Yang is deputy head of the Standing Committee of the Liaoning Provincial People’s Congress. It’s been announced that China’s top legislator Zhang Dejiang will pay a visit to Africa later this month. The chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress will depart for Lusaka, Zambia on Friday for a meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and pay an official visit to the country. His three-nation Africa tour will also include stops in Rwanda and Kenya. A bomb blast inside a bus carrying government employees has killed at least 15 people in northwest Pakistan. Police say the bomb was planted in a bus in Peshawar, and detonated with a timed device. Nearly 30 people were injured. All the injured have been rushed to a hospital, with 8 in a critical condition. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. The attack comes just a day after Pakistan confirmed death sentences to another 13 hardcore terrorists. US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has won a decisive victory in the key state of Florida. The victory has forced Florida Senator Marco Rubio to drop out of the Republican race. Trump has also won in Illinois and North Carolina. On the Democratic race, front-runner Hillary Clinton has extended her lead with wins in Florida, Ohio, Illinois and North Carolina. Tuesday saw five big states choose their preferred candidate for November’s presidential election. Australian officials say a piece of debris recently found on the Indian Ocean island of Reunion is unlikely to be from Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. The piece in question was discovered earlier this month on the island, where a wing fragment was found last year and later confirmed to be part of the vanished jet. The wing part remains the only confirmed debris from the Malaysian plane, which disappeared during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing two years ago, with 239 people on board. Meanwhile, Malaysia’s transport minister has cautioned against speculation that any of the recently found parts came from the missing plane, though he has suggested that one of the parts found in Mozambique looks promising. An American student has been sentenced to 15 years’ hard labor by a court in North Korea, for what it calls subversive activities. State media say Otto Warmbier has admitted stealing a propaganda banner from a hotel during his stay in Pyongyang early this year. In announcing the sentence, North Korea says Warmbier had committed his offense "pursuant to the US government’s hostile policy" towards the country. The 21-year-old student from the University of Virginia was arrested in January as he was leaving the country with a tour group. He later said he had removed a political banner from the staff-only area of the Pyongyang hotel where the group had stayed. Direct air routes linking the province of Guizhou in southwestern China with South Korea and Japan will be launched in April and August, respectively. China Southern Airlines announced the plans on Wednesday. There will be three weekly flights between Guiyang, the provincial capital, and Seoul, the South Korean capitial - and two flights linking Guiyang with Tokyo, the Japanese capital.
