Moscow says Russian planes are getting ready to leave Syria Russia says its military at the Russian air base in Syria is preparing for some of the planes and fighter jets to leave and return home. It comes after President Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian military to withdraw most of its forces from Syria. Putin's order coincides with the resumption of Syria peace talks in Geneva. The withdrawal marks an end to Russia's five-and-a-half-month air campaign in Syria. U Htin Kyaw of ruling party elected as president of Myanmar Myanmar's parliament has elected U Htin Kyaw as the country's next president. The candidate from the National League for Democracy defeated a fellow candidate from his party and one put forward by the military. The two losing candidates will become vice presidents. Htin Kyaw is a close ally of NLD leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who led the party to a sweeping victory in November's general elections. Suu Kyi herself is barred from the presidency by the constitution because her two sons are foreign nationals. Turkey's military: 45 PKK rebels killed in air strikes The Turkish military says at least 45 Kurdish rebels have been killed in air strikes against suspected militant targets in northern Iraq. Two arms depots and two rocket launcher positions were also destroyed. The strikes followed the suicide car bombing in Ankara that killed 37 people. Meanwhile, a police officer and three Kurdish militants were killed in fighting in the mainly Kurdish city of Diyarbakir. There's no immediate claim of responsibility for the Ankara attack, but authorities say it was likely the work of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK. Al-Qaeda threatens France and allies after Ivory Coast attack Al-Qaeda's north African branch has threatened France and its allies fighting against jihadists in the volatile region, following the weekend's shooting rampage in Cote d'Ivoire that killed 18 people. Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Magreb has warned that those nations involved in the regional anti-insurgent operation would "receive a response". The statement was issued on the eve of a visit by the French foreign and interior ministers to Cote d'Ivoire. Four French nationals were among those killed in Sunday's attack. Bangladesh Bank governor resigns over some 101 mln USD heist Bangladesh's central bank chief has resigned, after hackers stole 81 million US dollars from the nation's foreign reserves in one of the biggest bank heists in history. Atiur Rahman stepped down at the request of the finance minister, who says the Bangladesh Bank governor failed to inform authorities of the theft for a month. The money was stolen on February 5 from an account that Bangladesh held with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and was transferred electronically to accounts in the Philippines. China Sanjiang Space Group is preparing to enter the commercial-rocket business with a launch slated for 2017.
