介绍:
Novak Djokovic has apologized again following comments he made about male tennis players deserving to make more money than their female counterparts. Djokovic's apology came on Wednesday as he spoke ahead of the coming Masters 1000 event in Miami. According to the Serbians previous statement, he believes male tennis stars deserve more because they attract larger audiences to the sport. But on Wednesday, the Serbian clarified his meaning and apologized for any misunderstandings. "I feel sorry that if in any way I hurt my female tennis colleagues. I have a very good relationship with all of them. I have huge respect for all of them and personally because of the position and status I have, I feel a need and responsibility to make myself available for young players, both male and female. To give them support, to give them advices. To help them in any way possible in their development to professional tennis." Djokovic's comments have made ripples in the tennis community. Former female pro Chris Evert has responded to all the attention raised by the Serbian. "I think that it's all about buying tickets. It's all about entertainment value. And the women certainly have proven themselves to be equal with the men. I think it's been cyclical as far as different eras. The women are going to be bigger draws and I know the women were bigger draws in certain eras. Especially when we had American women at the top and European men at the top." Again, all of this comes ahead of the games to be played in Miami. The tournament kicks off on the 21st and will go until April 3rd.
