A friend told me that she was very excited about the holiday. I asked her what she would do during the holiday, and she said “I will go to watch a movie. Do you want to play with me?”. In Chinese, “玩儿”is often used to talk about doing something fun. However in English, we only use the word “play” when we are children. It is a little childish to use as an adult.
一个朋友告诉我就要放假了她很兴奋。我问她放假做什么，她说 ”我要去看电影，你想跟我一起去玩吗？" (这句话待会我会讲到，有做羞羞的事情的意思~别酱紫，我可是根正苗红的大好青年好嘛！) 在中文里，玩用来表示做有意思的事情。但是在英文里, 只有小孩才会用”play"。大人用有点幼稚。
When we are adults, we only use the word “play” in 3 situations.
（a love affair）For example:
Do you want to play with me?”.
（男女关系）你想和我一起做不可描述的事情吗？（千万别乱说，你懂得~）
（sports or instruments） For example
Do you want to play football with me?
（运动或乐器）你想和我一起踢足球吗？
（games） For example
Would you like to play mahjong with me?
（游戏）你想和我一起打麻将吗？
If you are not talking about sports or games, it is better to use the words: “hang out” or “spend time”.
如果你说的不是运动或者游戏， 最好使用“hang out” 或者 “spend time”.
