介绍:
Imagine a grocery store where you don't have to wait in line or deal with a slow cashier▼. You let yourself in with your key card, pick up the groceries you need, and check yourself out. This is how it works at the Farmhouse Market, an automated grocery store in New Prague, Minnesota. Farmhouse Market is only open to the public nine hours per week. Membership3 holders, though, can come in and browse through4 a wide range of5 local and organic products 24 hours a day. That's because the owners, Kendra and Paul Rasmusson, have put in a self-checkout system. The idea has been a hit in the small town. Nearly 200 memberships were sold in the store's first three weeks of operation6. But it's not just in New Prague that this idea is catching on7. Amazon has also followed the automated-grocery-shopping trend with Amazon Go. Using this service, members don't even have to check out. They simply walk into an Amazon Go store, pick up what they need off the shelves, and walk out. Special technology tracks8 what shoppers take off the shelves automatically and sends each user a bill. It sure beats waiting in checkout lines, doesn't it?
