Generally, a coat or a shirt has sleeves ,either short ones or long ones. But a dress can be short-sleeved ,long-sleeved or sleeveless.
“Every man has a fool in his sleeve.” This is a proverb. Obviously, we cannot take “a fool in his sleeve”literally. The proverb tells us everyone should be modest and prudent,for even a wise person can make mistakes.
A person may laugh up his sleeve. That is, he may hide his laughter, though he is very much amused by something. Similarly ,a person may weep in his sleeve. On the other hand, some people wear their hearts on their sleeves. They are in the habit of showing their feelings to others.
