Nishikori to Meet Cilic at U.S Open Men's Final
In tennis,
Defending champion Serena Williams has won her third-straight US Open title after cruising past Denmark's Caroline Wozniacki in straight sets this morning, 6-3, 6-3.
The victory is Williams' 18th career Grand Slam title.
For Wozniacki, who made it into the final at Flushing Meadows after rolling past China's Peng Shuai over the weekend, this is her first appearance in a Grand Slam final since losing on the same court in 2009 to Kim Clijsters.
The men's doubles finals was also held this morning,
American twins Bob and Mike Bryan have become the first doubles pair to win 100 titles together, after hammering Spain's Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez 6-3, 6-4 in the final.
The final showdown at the U.S Open will go tomorrow morning, Beijing time, when 10th seeded Kei Nishikori of Japan will take on 14th seeded Croatian Marin Cilic.
This is the first time for both players to appear in the final of a Grand Slam.
However, both earned their way into this year's finals.
Nishikori secured a monumental upset by eliminating World No.1 Novak Djokovic.
At the same tim, Cilic is in the final after stunning five-time U.S Open champion Roger Federer.
Nishikori's play has generated a lot of excitement, including the ranks of the Japanese government itself.

"I think 'magnificent' is the only word to describe this properly. If he has come this far, we definitely want him to win the tournament. He not only represents the hope of all Japanese citizens but will also be the first Asian so we want him to accomplish this great feat."
Nishikori boasts a 5-2 record in previous matches against Cilic.
The men's singles final will get underway tomorrow morning at 5 a.m Beijing Time.
NFL Week 1 Sunday round-up

After the defending champion Seattle Seahawks opened up the season on Thursday with a home victory over Green Bay, the majority of the games for Week 1 took place this morning.
Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos have opened their season with a win, holding off the Indianapolis Colts 31-24.
With the win over his old team, Manning becomes only the second quarterback after Brett Farve to be victorious over all 32-teams in the league.
In other action,
It was San Francisco dumping Dallas 28-17.
Carolina edged Tampa Bay 20-14.
It was the Miami Dolphins all over New England 33-20.
Tenessee rolled over Kansas City 26-10.
Houston has opened its season with a win, downing Washington 17-6.
It was the Buffalo Bills stunning Chicago 23-20 in overtime.
The Cincinatti Bengals cruised past Baltimore 23-16.
It was the Jets giving fans in New York something to cheer about early, upsetting Oakland 19-14.
Philadelphia doubled up on Jacksonville 34-17.
A 41-yard field-goal as time expired lifted the Pittsburgh Steelers over Cleveland 30-27. The Steelers blew a 24-point half-time lead before rallying at the end to maintain the victory.
It was Minnesota all over St. Louis 34-6.
And Atlanta prevailed in overtime, edging New Orleans 37-34.
There are a pair of games tomorrow morning, Beijing time, to round out Week 1 in the NFL.
The New York Giants are on the road in Detroit. That one will kick-off shortly after 7 tomorrow morning Beijing time.
The late game, which will get underway around 10:30am, will have San Diego taking on Arizona.
Euro 2016 Qualifiers: Germany beat Scotland 2-1; Albania stun Portugal 1-0
In European football action,
A major upset in the qualifying for the 2016 European Championships.
Albania, which has yet to qualify for a major tournament in Europe since becoming part of UEFA in 1964, stunned Portugal 1-nil last night.
Portugal, still reeling from a disappointing World Cup, were without the services of star striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
In other action,
World champions Germany have opened their European Championship qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory over Scotland.
Thomas Mueller scored both goals for Germany.

"I am completely satisfied that we won the three points. That was my only expectation today. I only wanted to win this game and start off qualification well. It was clear that this would be a difficult game, that the Scots have nothing to lose and would play defensively"
The result puts Germany on three points in Group D along with Poland, who thrashed newcomers Gibralter and Ireland, who snatched victory in Georgia.

Brazil Down Argentina, Move into FIBA Basketball World Cup Quarters
In basketball,
Brazil has rallied to beat Argentina to advance to the quarter-finals of the Basketball World Cup in Spain.
Brazil dominated their South American rivals in the second half, cruising to an 85-65.
The win by Brazil marks its first victory over Argentina at the Worlds since 1967.
Brazil is set to take on Serbia in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
Serbia has earned its ticket into the last-eight by getting past previously undefeated Greece 90-72.

Turkey is also into the last-8 following a narrow win over upstart Australia, edging the Aussies 65-64.
Turkey will be up against Lithuania in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.

Horschel Holds on to Win BMW Championship
In golf,
American Billy Horschel has held off late charges from Sergio Garcia and Bubba Watson to capture the BMW Championship in Colorado.
Horschel finished with a final-round one-under-69 to win
