GOLF: 10th Hong Kong Open swings into action

India's Jyoti Randhawa finished at the top of the leaderboard, on the first day of the Hong Kong Open.
The Hong Kong Open is one of the most prestigious golfing events in the region and over 30 Asian tour winners will form part of the impressive line-up at this year's event that offers 1.3 million U.S. dollars to the winner.
Randhawa is currently placed 20th in the international Golf Rankings but analysts are expecting a close fight between four time Hong Kong Open Champion Miguel Angel Jimenez from Spain and four-time Major champion Earnie Els from South Africa.
Golfing stars Robert-Jan Derksen and Liang Wen-chong, the highest ranked Chinese pro-golfer launched a new initiative to take golf to primary schools in Hong Kong, on the sidelines of the tournament today.

Kansas City Royals have swept the Baltimore Orioles to reach their first World Series in 29 years and they did it in record fashion, with eight consecutive wins to open the postseason.
No other team in Major League baseball history has ever begun a postseason with eight wins in a row.
The Royals scored two runs in the first inning without getting the ball out of the infield, then held on for a 2-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, completing a four-game sweep of the American League Championship Series.

"My whole goal - none of this was ever about me. To winning a championship was all about this city, our fans, and these players. I've been there six times before, I know how special it is. And I wanted my players to experience it. I wanted Kansas City to experience it and our fans."
The Royals last went to the World Series in 1985, when they beat the Cardinals in seven games.
The Orioles, who won the American League East title, were beaten for the first time in 20 postseason series.

"I don't know. It's disappointing, I'm frustrated. It's not like it's something we didn't do; it was more of what they did. You saw how close the games were. And it's more a testament to what they did and, obviously, they were playing great defensively ."
Kansas City will face the San Francisco Giants in the World Series, after the Giants secured a 6-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Giant's Buster Posey had two hits and three RBIs in this latest match, which gives San Francisco a 3-1 series lead.
The World Series begins next Tuesday at the Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.

Suarez wins the Golden Boot; eyes Barcelona debut
Barcelona forward Luis Suarez and Real Madrid Striker Cristiano Ronaldo have jointly won this year's Golden Boot award, presented to the highest scoring footballers in the European league.
The pair each netted 31 goals in the previous European league season.
Suarez is also looking forward to his competitive debut for Barcelona alongside Lional Messi and Neymar a day after his FIFA ban expires later this month.
"To have my debut against Real Madrid would be beautiful. Playing Barcalona is very special because of the traditional rivalry between these two teams. But I am just going to try and enjoy it and do my best when wearing the Barcelona shirt. That is what is in my hands."
The striker moved to Barcelona from Liverpool for a massive 120 million US dollar transfer fee in July.

South Korea unveils venue for 2018 Winter Olympics
The South Korean government has announced the final venue for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
The Games will be held in Pyeongchang, 180 kilometers east of the capital Seoul.
It is a new venue with no existing international sporting infrastructure.
South Korea is now building a new stadium that can house over 40,000 spectators, and a world-class ski resort named Alpensia, specifically for the 2018 winter Olympics and Paralympics.
