Basketball: CBA preview
In Basketball,
The CBA kicks off its season this weekend.
A pair of games is scheduled for Saturday, including a rematch of last season's semi-final.
Defending-champions Beijing Ducks will take on the Guangdong Southern Tigers.
And Shanghai goes up against Zhejiang.
Shanghai comes into the start of the season, having bolstered its line-up with the addition of Chinese forward Fan Chenglin.

The return of LeBron James to Cleveland was spoiled by the New York Knicks, which edged the Cavs 95-90. James scored 17 points and committed eight turnovers in the loss.
LeBron reflects on the loss and Cleveland moving forward this season.
"Well my shooting is a lot of me just out of rhythm I think my turnovers some of them was careless some of 'em was chemistry kinda I'm throwing passes where I was hoping some of my team mates were and they were not there and that will come with each game, with each practice us continuing to learn each other."
The Los Angeles Clippers kicked off the Steve Balmer-era with a win over Oklahoma City 93-90.
The Washington Wizards went on to beat Orlando 105-98,
the Timberwolves are 1-1 after their 97-91 victory over Detroit,
Utah got pounded by Dallas 120-102.

Golf: Shanghai Masters; LPGA Taiwan Recap

In the second-round of the BMW Masters in Shanghai,
Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts pulled ahead of overnight leader Alexander Levy by one shot to head into the weekend at Lake Malaren.
Colsaerts hit for 13 under par following a second round 64.
But Levy stayed atop the leaderboard, adding a 66 to his first-day 65. Fellow Frenchman Romain Wattel hit 11 under to take third.
Over at the LPGA Taiwan championship;
South Korean Inbee Park shot a 10-under 62 today at Miramar, jumping three strokes ahead to take the lead in the tournament.
This is Park's first event since regaining the world no. 1 spot on Monday.

The ATP in Paris:
Top-seeded Novak Djokovic will meet eighth-seed Andy Murray on the court.
Murray just secured his spot at the year-end championships after beating Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets.
Second-seed Swiss Roger Federer has been strong in his ATP return, making it into the quarter-finals. He will face world no. 10 Canadian Milos Raonic.
World no. 7 Kei Nishikori will take on fouth-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer.
And world no. 5 Czech Tomas Berdych plays against South African Kevin Anderson.
Over in Women's action,
First at the WTA 125k series in Ningbo,
Second-seed Zheng Saisai just [won/lost and score] in her match against Poland's Magda Linette.

Liverpool Captain Could Leave in 2015, English Premier League Preview
In football:
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says he would leave Ansfield for another club if he is not offered a new contract next summer.
The 34-year-old, who has been with the Reds since age 9, told the Daily Mail that he "can only worry about this season, because [Gerrard] is only contracted until May."
English Premier League action kicks off tomorrow.
Top-ranked Chelsea will face QPR. Chelsea stands four points clear of second-place Southampton.
The Saints will face Hull City.
Newcastle looks to keep its winning streak alive when it faces Liverpool.
Everton takes on Swansea,
Leicester faces off against West Brom
Stoke and West Ham will meet on the pitch
And Arsenal plays against Burnley.
Then on Sunday,
Manchester United is facing mounting pressure as it prepares to face Man City, which was on a tear until getting the boot from Newcastle in the Capital One Cup earlier this week.
This is a big game for both sides, but a loss for Man U would no doubt put manager Louis van Gaal's leadership into question.
NHL Recap and Weekend Preview
In NHL action last night:
The Pittsburgh Penguins shut out the Los Angeles Kings. Penguins Chris Kunitz scored two goals in that victory.
Chicago got past the Ottawa Senators 5-4 with a shootout goal from the Blackhawks Patrick Sharp.
Chicago forward Marian Hossa got his 1000th point in the match.
Vancouver edged Montreal 3-2 in overtime. Off the assist from twin brother Henrik, Daniel Sedin shot a power-play goal past Montreal goalie Carey Price at 2:45 to clinch the W.
And St. Louis wins a shutout upset over Anaheim 2-0.
Tomorrow, at 7 a.m. Beijing Time,
The LA Kings take on Detroit.
