Indiana Pacers&`& Chris Copeland Stabbed in New York Nightclub

Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland, his girlfriend and another woman were stabbed early Wednesday following an argument on the street near a Manhattan nightclub.
31-year-old Copeland, a former member of the New York Knicks, was stabbed in the left elbow and abdomen.
Derek Fisher, the coach of his former team, wished him a speedy recovery.
"I mean it&`&s possible. Obviously, it&`&s a serious situation. You wish Chris. . . you hope that he can get well and get healthy as quickly as possible -- that always supersedes and takes priority over basketball."
The victims are expected to recover.
A folding knife was recovered from at the scene.
Two Atlanta Hawks players who were also at the club, but not with Copeland, were taken into custody for interfering with the arrest and trying to prevent police from setting up a crime scene.
According to data, the nightclub was cited at least 10 times for altercations and four times for noise in 2014.
The violence erupted just before 4 a.m., local time.
Zhang Shuai Eliminated from Charleston Opener

China&`&s Zhang Shuai lost to Ekaterina Makarova of Russia 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 on Wednesday in her opening match at the Family Circle Cup in Charleston.
However, Makarova, who lost in the doubles finals at the Miami Open on Sunday, then withdrew because of a gastrointestinal illness.
In other action, past Family Circle champion and former U.S. Open winner Sam Stosur of Australia fell in three sets to Lara Arruabarrena of Spain, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.

Top-seeded Feliciano Lopez of Spain got his ATP title defence in Houston off to a smooth start on Wednesday with a 6-3, 6-3 win over American Sam Groth at the U.S. Men&`&s Clay Court Championships.
The top seed at the tournament will take on the eighth-seeded American Sam Querrey in the quarter-finals, who advanced with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 victory over fellow American Steve Johnson.
China Ranked 82th in FIFA Latest Rankings
In FIFA&`&s latest world rankings released on Thursday, the Chinese men&`&s national team has climbed one place from last month.
They are now 82nd in the world and remains 7th in Asia.
At 40th, Iran is still the top Asian team in the rankings.
China and seven other Asian countries, including Iran, Japan, and Iraq, were confirmed as the top seeds for the Asian draw, where 40 teams are split into eight groups of five in the latest stage of Asia&`&s long road to Russia 2018.
Germany continues to top the world rankings, followed by Argentina and Belgium.
Belgium has achieved its highest-ever position, 3rd place, since the ranking was introduced in 1993.
The next FIFA World Ranking will be published on May 7th.
Chelsea Bid for Japan Striker Yoshinori Muto

The Japanese football club FC Tokyo confirmed Thursday that English Premier League leaders Chelsea have made a formal offer for Japan striker Yoshinori Muto.
Japanese media reported the offer was about 5.9 million dollars, which would be a J-League record from an overseas club.
22-year-old Muto began his professional career at FC Tokyo last year, scoring 13 goals in 33 games to match the first-division record for a player in his rookie season.
He has scored three goals in four games this season, helping FC Tokyo move into second place in the J-League standings.
Capitals Blanks Bruins for The Third Time This Season

Braden Holtby made 27 saves as the Washington Capitals defeated the Bruins 3-0 on Wednesday night.
The Capitals blanked the Bruins in all three matchups this season and Washington outscored Boston 9-0 during the three contests.
It is first time in their 91-year history that an opponent has shutout the Bruins in a season series.
With two games left in the season, the Capitals remain in second place with 101 points behind the New York Rangers with 111 points in the Metropolitan Division.
The New York Islanders are in third place with 98 points.

The Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-0.
