Bach: Paris Would Be An "Exemplary" Candidate for 2024 Olympics
International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach told French President Francois Hollande on Thursday that Paris is an "exemplary candidate" to hold the 2024 Games.
"We are very happy to see France mobilize a candidacy in Paris for the 2024 Games and we are sure that it will be a very very strong candidacy which will delight many IOC members because France has a lot to offer to the Olympic movement"
He added that Paris has a strong chance of winning.
"His commitment to the Olympic movement and to this candidacy is a model and if it continues, if this candidacy continues with this spirit you have all the advantages and you can submit this candidacy with full confidence."
The French capital is expected to formalise its Olympic bid in mid-September and should find out in a year if it will make the shortlist.
Paris, which last hosted the Summer Games in 1924, lost Olympic bids in 1992, 2008, and 2012.
