Northern Ireland golf star, Rory McIlroy will test his injured left ankle this weekend when he hits the Whistling Straits golf course in the U.S. city of Milwaukee for a practice round a week ahead of the PGA Tour event there.
The World No. 1 damaged ligaments in his foot while he was playing a game of soccer with his friends back in his home country in early July.
The injury has sidelined McIlroy from competition, including the Scottish Open and The Open Championships, where he would have been defending champion had he participated.
McIlroy or his representatives could not immediately be reached for comment.
McIlroy's potential return to competition could put him back in contention in time for the year's final major--the PGA Championship, which tees off later this month.
