Walmart angered fans of Justin Bieber and One Direction after the retail chain began sales on Saturday of new albums by those artists, six days ahead of the official release dates.
Bieber's "Purpose" and One Direction's "Made In The A.M." are supposed to go on sale on Friday, but some Walmart stores reportedly stocked shelves with the new music already.
As soon as the news spread, fans took their frustration to Twitter, using the hashtag "NoPlayPURPOSEandMITAM", urging people to respect Bieber and One Direction by not buying the albums.
"Purpose" marks Bieber's first proper full-length release since 2012's "Believe", while "MITAM" will be One Direction's last album before the boys take a lengthy hiatus.
Walmart has not officially responded.
