Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara's 'Carol' dominated this year's New York Film Critics Circle Awards, by grabbing four out of 14 awards. This British-American romantic drama took home Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Cenematography. Directed by Todd Haynes, the film is based on a 1952 novel named 'The Price of Salt'. Set the plot in 1950s New York, it portrays the relationship between a wealthy, married woman and an ambitious shop girl, as they meet in a store during Christmas time. Meanwhile, Michael Keaton wins the title of best actor with his performance in 'Spotlight', and 'Brooklyn's' Saoirse Ronan has been crowned best actress. 'Twilight' star Kristen Stewart surprised the critics by taking the title of best supporting actress, for her role in the 2014 film 'Clouds of Sils Maria'. Annie Awards' biggest winner 'Inside Out' has been honored best animated feature. Thirty film critics for New York-based publications gather for the NYFCC every December since 1930s, to vote on the year's top contributions to the art of cinema. The NYFCC Awards are the oldest and one of the most prestigious given by film critics in the United State.
