The only Chinese player in Spain's top football division Zhang Chengdong has made his debut in a regular season game for Rayo Vallecano.
Zhang made the start for the La Liga team on the left back wing in their Copa Del Rey encounter with Getafe which Vallecano won 2-0.
He was called off at the 66th minute for an ankle injury.
His team boss Paco Jemez says he is amazed at Zhang's performance.
Zhang joined Vallecano from Beijing Guo'an on loan last July and is yet to play on La Liga field.
In other action from the Copa Del Rey,
Real Madrid defeated Cadiz 3-1 but are facing expulsion from the tournament for fielding an illegitimate player.
Denis Cheryshev has an one-match suspension which he has not served. He started against Cadiz and scored three minutes into the game.
He was replaced within a minute of the start of the second half.
