China's Ministry of Commerce says Japan is still one of China's most important investment source countries.
Ministry spokesperson Shen Danyang made the remark amid concerns expressed by Japanese firms that business potential in China has gone down in recent years.
Data showed the investment of Japan to China was down by 25 percent in 2015, and down by nearly 40 percent in 2014.
Shen says the leaders of many Japanese companies here in China are still positive and optimistic.
"Many surveys show a majority of Japanese enterprises consider that the potential in Chinese markets is huge and they won't give up the Chinese market which is important to them. According to a recent report conducted by Japan External Trade Organization, lots of Japanese companies attempt to expand their investment in the Chinese market."
The spokesperson added that the Chinese economy has entered a new normal stage, in which the economic growth has begun to turn slow and costs for labor and land are on the rise.
