It has been reported that, eight-time NBA All Star Yao Ming has been elected into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
According to Yahoo Sports, the official announcement will come on Monday in Houston, where Yao played for nine years.
The center from Shanghai has been instrumental in creating a bridge for the NBA to make connections with Chinese fans and has also been a key player in the sports globalization.
Before Yao got started in the NBA, his roots were with the CBA's Shanghai Sharks.
He was drafted in 2002, as the number 1 overall selection.
Yao averaged, 19 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in his career with the NBA.
The Chinese football legend retired in 2011.
