GLOBAL TIMES Ex-HK newspaper editor stabbed A former chief editor of Hong Kong newspaper Ming Pao is in critical condition after being stabbed yesterday morning. The 49-year-old Kevin Lau was ambushed in Lei King Wan in Hong Kong. He was appointed Ming Pao's chief editor in 2012. He left the post in January this year. It's unclear what the motivation behind the attack is. SHANGHAI DAILY All MA-60 jets grounded A Chinese aircraft maker in Xi'an has grounded all of its MA-60 jets across China after the landing gear of the jet malfunctioned twice this month. The latest malfunction saw a flight forced to circle over an airport in Shenyang for over 2-hours this week while the crew tried to deal with the landing gear malfucntion. The plane eventually landed safely. SOUTH CHINA METROPOLITAN DAILY Regional pension barriers to be eliminated The State Council is working to unify the regional differences in this country's pension system. There used to be no transfer mechanism between pensions for urban and rural residents. However, authorities are now working to change this so that if a rural resident changes his Hukou, he or she should be eligable for the urban pension, which is higher than the rural one. BEIJING MORNING POST Nanjing hopspital violence A couple in Nanjing have been suspended from their government jobs and are under criminal investigation following a brutal attack on a nurse and a doctor in a local hospital earlier this week. The husband is a local procuratorate official. The wife is an official at the local broadcasting coporation. The couple was reportedly unhappy that the nurse put a male patient in the ward where their daughter was hospitalized. BEIJING TIMES Free hospital WIFI Beijing's medical authority has signed a deal with China Telecom to provide free wifi in all public hospitals here in Beijing.
