MTV Movie Awards Nominees
The MTV Movie Awards nominees have been announced, with "American Hustle" and "The Wolf of Wall Street" each landing eight nominations.
Both films went home from Sunday's Oscars empty handed but will have a shot at redemption at the unbuttoned MTV event that hands out golden, popcorn-shaped trophies in categories like best kiss and best fight scene.
"American Hustle" stars Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper each picked up nominations in the best acting categories. Adams and Christian Bale also received a nod for best on-screen duo.
Meanwhile, "12 Years A Slave," which won the Oscar for best picture, earned four nominations. Surprisingly, space thriller "Gravity" received only a single nomination for Sandra Bullock as best actress after the film recently took home seven Academy Awards.
The full list of nominees for best movie includes "12 Years a Slave," American Hustle," "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" and "The Wolf of Wall Street."
The awards are handed out based upon fan votes and the event will be hosted by comedian Conan O'Brien at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on April 13.

Japanese Composer apologizes after revelation that his compositions were ghostwritten
The man who once won the nickname of "Japan's Beethoven" has apologized on Friday during his first media appearance since it was revealed that his famed musical compositions were written by a ghostwriter and that he is not, as he claims, completely deaf.
Mamoru Samuragochi acknowledged that he worked with Takashi Niigaki in secret for 18 years. Niigaki recently told a tabloid magazine that he was the ghostwriter behind Samuragochi's most famous works, including the "Hiroshima" symphony.
Samuragochi was celebrated for overcoming his severe hearing disabilities to compose and arrange his works. However, he now admits that his hearing has been slowly recovering over the last three years, though the 50-year-old musician still maintains that he does indeed have hearing problems.
CD sales of music credited to Samuragochi have surged since the scandal broke.

U.S. President Barack Obama welcomed the women to the White House.
"Welcome to the White House for the latest in our series celebrating the music that has shaped our American story. And as someone who always shares this house with brilliant, creative, talented, somewhat stubborn women -- I think Women's History Month is the perfect time to honor a few more: the Women of Soul."
The concert, called "In Performance at the White House," was live streamed at WhiteHouse.gov/live and will be broadcasted today on PBS.
