问题：What do you think we should do to increase food safety?
I think the burden of that mainly falls upon the government, and all it has to do is to set clear standards for the production of food and have a specialized agency enforce these standards strictly to ensure the food are produced properly and without harmful additives. But the government is in a difficult situation where they can’t just simply introduce these new standards outright, because the restaurants with low food quality are usually run by the lower class people who are still struggling at the poverty line. If the government raised the bar on the food safety issues, then that would basically force these restaurants to go out of business, and the unemployment rate would then skyrocket. I think once the government solved the poverty problem, then food safety would be the next on the list.
