赏析：
迪伦·托马斯(Dylan Thomas, 1914~1953)，英国著名诗人、作家，他的创作灵感大多来自其故乡英国南威尔士美轮美奂的风景，围绕生、欲和死三大主题，诗风粗犷而热烈，其诗作大体属于超现实主义流派。其代表作有《二十四年》(Twenty-Four Years)《塔楼中的耳朵听见》(Ears In The Turrets Hear)等。
本诗作于诗人的父亲逝世之前，呼吁平素羁傲不逊的父亲“不要温顺地走进那良宵”，即不要屈从死神的诱惑。诗人以各种不同的人生为例，告诉父亲，面对死神，要敢于表达愤怒，要“愤怒地反抗那光的残凋”。整首诗意象丰富，夜晚与白昼、黑暗与光明、温顺与愤怒、死亡与生命，相互对立而又互为依存，充满人性的律动。这是首格律严谨的十九行二韵体诗(Villanelle)，通篇采用ABA的韵式，音韵严谨而不失活力；诗眼的重复使整首诗读来颇有复沓之美，表现了诗人对诗歌音乐性的精准把握。好莱坞热门电影《星际穿越》(Interstellar)中巧妙地引用了这首诗。
