1.Family reunion：
(family party ,family gathering ,family reunion )家庭聚会:
Usually includes Christmas party, birthday party, thanksgiving party, new year party. When the time comes, family members all gather around at home celebrating festivals.
美国典型的家庭聚会一般在圣诞节，感恩节，新年和家庭成员过生日时候，像我们中国在过春节，中秋节，全家人在一起吃晚饭，聊聊天，聚会场所一般都是在家里吃正餐比如感恩节的火鸡turkey，或者沙拉salad 牛排steak 和一些派pie，如果在家里的后院就会吃一些烧烤，家庭聚会基本不会去饭馆。
2.Potluck party：客人自带食物的聚会;
这是美国人最经常举行的一种典型聚会。Everyone who is coming to the party will bring one of their own plate, or some wine, or snack. 每个来参加聚会的人都会带来自己准备的一道菜或者香槟，红酒，甚至是一盘点心；
在中国如果有人举办一次聚会那通常就意味着他要把所有的食物饮料准备好来接待客人。这里就体现除了中美的文化差异，美国人认为参与聚会就要做出自己的贡献，或者经常AA制度，在中国的传统待客之道里一般会由聚会主持者请客，比如我请客就是：my treat.
3.Bachelor party:
This is the party before the wedding; people gather around to celebrate the end of the wedding couple’s single life and wish them a long lasting marriage.
The bachelor party是单身男女在结婚前举行的聚会，通常不邀请异性，新郎或新娘约上自己的朋友在结束单身之前再狂欢一把！
