Time passed quickly as the two largest gangs became more competitive against each other, and it was no surprise that feelings of hospitality grew over the period of time.
Finally, about two years ago, they started to argue and quarrel. Before things got worse, the two gangs entered into direct dialogue trying to reconcile and reach an agreement for peaceful coexistence. But both sides refuses to make any concessions.
On a cold, dark winter evening with the moon hidden behind clouds, their hatred finally led to a deadly collision, and a battle erupted between the two largest gangs on the sea.
At that time gunpowder and bullets hadn’t been invented yet, not to mention cannons and rifles. Those outlaws of the seas fought with steel knives, clubs, hammers and other handy weapons, even with their fists.
After a long and brutal fight, one gang surrendered and suffered a total defeat. Its ship fell into the hands of its adversary, and its members were thrown off the deck into the freezing water. With their hands and feet bound with cords and chains, the chance of survival for those poor men was certainly nought.
The surviving pirate ship, with its crew drinking alcohol and shouting on the deck, celebrating to be alive and in one piece, disappeared into the darkness of the sea. A reticent man, about fifty years old, sat on a dark oak barrel against a huge mast, quietly watching them. He was the captain of the ship.
No one knew his real name. His crew called him Captain Button…...
