In the lecture, the professor named two ways a company could diversify. The first one is that it can use existing resources to make new kinds of products. Sometimes it is very efficient for a company to use the same technics to make different products. For example, a TV screen company may use the same technics to make computer monitors, because these two things are very alike. By making new products, it can reach out to new group of costumers, like businesses purchasing computer monitors for their employees’ computers. Another way is to appeal a company’s customer base with other products. Its customers could have other needs for different products. For example, a ski company has customers who like winter sports. So it may make ski jackets, which will be very welcomed by its existing customer base, because those customers may like jackets with their favorite company’s name on.
