Seventh seed Kei Nishikori became the first quarterfinalist after defeating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.
Nishikori broke five of Tsonga's service games throughout the match and only dropped one.
The Japanese player says he was prepared for a long game but happy to close it out in straight sets.
"It's great to finish straight sets always, especially Grand Slam is two weeks, so it's long time. Takes some time than usual tournament. It's great to finish quick. But actually, yeah, I'm feeling great. You know, even I think play four or five sets, I should be okay, especially live close. You know, it's easy for body. Yeah, I have good feeling. Yeah, like I said, looking forward to play next one."
Nishikori's next opponent is Novak Djokovic who held his nerves in a scintillating Gilles Simon challenge, coming through in five sets.
Simon refused to make it easy for Djokovic by repeatedly saving match points and held on to his his serve to go 5-3.
Djokovic eventually served out the match which lasted four and a half hours.
Tomas Berdych also battled for five sets to make the last eight.
In women's action,
Maria Sharapova was pushed into tie-break in both sets but managed to edge Belinda Bencic in just over two hours.
Sharapova almost gave up on the first set but fought back in the lead-up to a straight-sets victory.
"I think you take everything that you can get. I mean, I felt like there was a few ups and downs in the beginning after not taking some of my chances. I think it was really easy for me just to go away and let her run with the first set, and I'm glad I didn't. I'm glad I was still there and kept motivating myself to try to open up some more doors and finally breakthrough. I was definitely hesitant on some of those points. But overall, yeah, felt like a quality match. Yeah."
Sharapova's quarterfinal opponent is her old foe Serena Williams.
Angieszka Radwanska is the winner of another marathon match, winning the third and deciding set on tie-break.
And Chinese qualifier Zhang Shuai is to play Madison Keys for a quarter-final ticket tomorrow.
